How to Install gmt software package in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin)

gmt software package provides Generic Mapping Tools, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gmt

gmt is installed in your system.

Make ensure the gmt package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gmt *

You will get with gmt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
